Michael Combs

After years of addiction that nearly destroyed his life, Michael Combs surrendered to Christ on February 6, 1989, during a revival in Jacksonville, Florida. God immediately placed him in a music ministry he never expected but now cannot imagine leaving. Over more than three decades on the road he endured four major surgeries, liver failure, and a September 9, 1991, liver transplant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Anti-rejection drugs later destroyed his kidneys; even at 8 percent function he recorded his 20th album, I Can Trust Him, before receiving a successful kidney transplant on January 9, 2017.

He returned to full-time ministry in 2018 with renewed voice and energy, winning the 2018 AGM Music Video of the Year for “Good Verses Evil” and the 2019 AGM Fan Favorite Artist award, plus a Top 10 Singing News Favorite Soloist nomination. His songs are now regarded as classics, sung in churches and talent contests and aired on SiriusXM and other stations. For thirty years he and his wife Denise have traveled together, seeing hundreds come to Christ. They make their home in Ashe County, North Carolina, where he enjoys golf and time with their two children and seven grandchildren.
