The Inspirations Quartet is a legendary Southern Gospel group formed in 1964 in Bryson City, North Carolina. Martin Cook, a chemistry teacher at Swain County High School and former pianist for the Kingsmen, started the group by inviting several of his teenage students—Archie Watkins (tenor), Ronnie Hutchins (lead), Jack Laws (baritone), and Dean Robinson (bass)—to sing gospel songs together. They became full-time in 1969 after launching their famous "Singing In The Smokies" festival, which has drawn thousands of fans for decades.
